Account deletion
Delete your Suma account
This page explains how a Suma user can delete an account and the data associated with it.
Last updated: July 22, 2026.
How to delete an account
In the app: open Settings → Account & plan → Manage account → Delete account. Enter the account email to confirm. The account and server data will be deleted without undue delay.
Without access to the app: email [email protected] from the address assigned to the Suma account. Use the subject “Delete my Suma account” and ask us to delete the account and associated data. If you no longer control that address, provide enough information for us to verify ownership without sending your password.
Data we delete
After verification we delete the Suma account and associated server data, including:
- email, user identifier, password hash, authentication records, and purchase-entitlement records stored by Suma;
- synchronized accounts, balances, categories, budgets, transactions, settlements, investments, and sync settings;
- receipt photos, OCR files and results, imports, cloud exports, and notification-recognition logs;
- push tokens and associated device identifiers;
- shared trips you own, including their history.
If you participated in a trip owned by another user, your membership is disconnected, made inactive, and anonymized as “Deleted Suma user”. This lets the other participants retain shared expense history without your email, account identifier, or profile name.
Local device data
Some Suma data may exist only on your phone. Server-side account deletion cannot remove that local copy. To remove it, clear Suma app data in Android settings or uninstall the app.
Data that may be retained
- Technical security logs and backups are deleted or overwritten through the standard retention cycle, normally within 90 days.
- Data sent to the OpenAI API may remain in OpenAI abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days. Firebase analytics and Sentry diagnostic data are not associated with the Suma account email and follow the retention configured for those services.
- Payment or subscription information may be retained where required by tax, accounting, claims, anti-fraud, or Google Play obligations.
- Deleting a Suma account does not cancel an active Google Play subscription. Cancel it separately in Google Play.
Timing and contact
In-app deletion is processed automatically without undue delay. Email requests are completed without undue delay and no later than 30 days after we verify account ownership.
